ECOMAR fish workshop a huge success!

Between the 12th – 16th April 2010 a fish workshop was help at Oceanlab 2, University of Aberdeen (www.oceanlab.abdn.ac.uk).  Attendees were Dr Tracey Sutton, VIMS, USA, and Tom Letessier, University of St Andrews, Scotland who worked on the pelagic fish catch, and Dr John Gordon, SAMS, Scotland, Dr Nikki King and Dr Mark Shields, both of Oceanlab, University of Aberdeen, and Dr Gui Menezes, DOP, Azores who worked on the demersal fish.

The aim of the workshop was to identify specimens from the trawls conducted on both the 2007 and 2009 ECOMAR sampling cruises.  All fish that needed identification were identified and those that just needed their species confirmed were checked.  The group worked hard all week using the new facilities available in Oceanlab 2.

It wasn’t all hard work and some time was dedicated to down time,
with a fish lovers ideal sightseeing trip to Peterhead fish market.
