Mystery solved: three families of deep-sea fish are actually one!

MAR-ECO scientist Dr Tracey Sutton and several MAR-ECO specimens have recently been involved in solving a fish misclassification mystery where three fish families were combined into one family!
Scientists have realized, via extensive morhpological and genetic analysis, that all of the species classified in the bignose fish family are actually males of the whalefish family, and species of a third the tapetails and hairyfish, are in fact the larvae of these whalefish.
