Conference on the Biology of Marine Mammals

The 16th Biennial Conference on the Biology of Marine Mammals is organized by the Society of Marine Mammalogy and gathers practically everything and everybody within marine mammal science worldwide. Close to 2000 participants attended this large conference, including around 500 students. 38 companies or organizations had exhibitions and sales offices for the latest of scientific equipment and literature relevant for marine mammal research. A total number of 263 experts performed a tough peer review evaluation of all abstracts to the conference. Twelve hundred abstracts went through the expert’s evaluation criteria and are now published by the Society for Marine Mammalogy in a 330 p useful abstract volume. The conference had in general high scientific quality with 306 spoken and approximately 950 poster slots.
